How to Publish Your Manga Online in India (and Get Paid)

You've drawn your first chapter — maybe more. Now what? Print publishing in India is hard to break into, and posting pages on social media rarely turns into income. This guide walks through publishing your manga online in India, from preparing files to getting paid by readers.

1. Prepare your pages

• Export each page as an image (JPEG, PNG or WebP). Keep each page under 10 MB.
• Name files so they sort in reading order (01.jpg, 02.jpg …), or pack the whole chapter into a single PDF, .cbz or .zip file — pages are read in order.
• Portrait pages work best on phones, which is where most readers are.
• Make a strong cover. It's the first thing readers see in listings and search results.

2. Create your series

Sign up as a creator on Indian Manga and create a series: title, genre, cover and a synopsis. Write the synopsis for a stranger — two or three sentences on who the story is about and what's at stake. A good synopsis also helps your series show up when people search for manga in your genre.

3. Upload chapters

Upload a chapter by dropping in your page images or a single PDF, .cbz or .zip file. Each new series and chapter goes through a short content review before it's published, so readers only see finished, appropriate work. You can also schedule a chapter to go live at a set date and time, which helps you keep a regular release rhythm.

4. Decide what's free and what's premium

By default the first three chapters of a series are free, so new readers can get hooked before they pay. Later chapters are premium: readers can unlock a single chapter for ₹29, or buy a monthly (₹199) or annual (₹999) pass that opens every premium chapter on the platform. You can switch any chapter between free and premium.

5. How you earn

• Chapter unlocks — you keep 70% of every ₹29 unlock of your chapters.
• Subscriptions — 70% of the subscription pool is shared among creators based on what subscribers read.
• Tips — readers can tip you directly, and you keep 100%.

Earnings show up in your dashboard as they happen, with a full history. Payouts go to your UPI ID every quarter, at the end of March, June, September and December.

6. Grow your readers

• Release on a schedule. Readers come back when they know when the next chapter drops.
• Share your series link on Instagram, X and WhatsApp — each series and chapter has a share button.
• Reply to comments. Early readers who feel heard become your biggest promoters.
• Finish arcs. A completed story is much easier to recommend than an abandoned one.
